Evaluation

Overall evaluation for our preliminary music video - prezi presentation.
For our overall evaluation we created a prezi presentation (see link above). We answered 6 Questions which were;
  • What our task was,
  • What our intentions were,
  • How production and post-production went,
  • What we thought went well,
  • What we could have improved on,
  • What we have learnt from the process.
We also made a presentation for the quesitons;
  • In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge foms and conventions of real media products?
  • How effective if the combination of yourmain product and ancillary texts?

Practice Piece - finished

This is our final video.




Our magazine advert.
What we did well; There is synergy between this advert and the CD cover as we have used the same font and picture for both. We included important information including; where they can get the single form, when it is released and the record company that released it.
What we could have improved on; We could have made the bottom half look more professional by including some reviews from well known music magazines. The layout could also be improved the make sure there it looks neater.

What we did well; It sticks to characteristics of the genre as it is focused on the the band. It is not too cluttered with photos or text and it is quite clear what song it is.
What we can improve on; We could make it slightly more interesting.

Our magazine advert.

                                                                   Step 1;

  • We have made the band name bigger than the single name, as it is the band that sells the single.
  • We have kept the font consistent wish the CD inserts.

  • We have no added the information about the release date.
Step 3;
  • We have now included the official website address and the record label.



Step 4;

  • We have now included a picture of the band, some added detail and some of the websites people could download the Single from.
  • We also changed the font on the Band name and single title, this was to create synergy between this advert and the CD cover.

"A unified consistency" and magazine advert.

For our CD covers, poster and magazine advert we need them to be clear that they are all promoting the same band and song. By doing this we need to keep a unified consitency between each thing we do. It is important to have this synergy betweem the magazine advert and the CD as it makes it easier for people to recognise them. An advert would not be affective if it didn't represent the product, or in this case, the single. It helps the reader form a connection between the two

Features that will be kept consistent;
  • A colour theme - this creates a synergy between the two making it easier to recognise faster.
  • The font for the band name - this acts as a form of brand name and is what helps the reader identify the band/artist instantly.
  • Band members need to remain the same - this is especially important if there are photos of the bands on either the CD or magazine advert. If the band memebers change this will confuse the audience.
  • The same or similar image - this will help the reader recognise the CD instantly. Therefore they will not necessarily have to read the information for them to know what the single is.
  • A consistent theme - this helps the reader create a link if there are similar icons, similar style photos etc.
Today we will be making out magazine advert. This will inclue the record label, release date, sizing hierarchy etc.
